In this lesson we discussed the choices we all have in our lives. We asked the girls what are some choices you have to make in your life. Many responded with attend school, our friends, making new friends.
At Girls On The Run we can make choices that show respect to ourselves and to others. We did a really fun activity called would you rather. The 4 girls that attended our practice truly loved this game and if we have time during another lesson we hope to try it with a bigger group. Some questions were pretty funny such as would you rather have stinky feet or stinky breath? Parents what would be your choice? Another was would you rather be president or a super hero? As the girls began to run their laps today we talked about the choices that Girls on the run make to respect themselves and others they then needed to grab a card that had a scenario on it if they felt the choice they read was easy to do then they would run clock wise if they felt it was something hard to do they would run counter clock wise. When they finished each lap they would grab another card. Some cards were: I choose to be truthful. Even though I'm tired, I set and reach my lap goals at GOTR practice. I choose to encourage others. I choose to show gratitude.

Today we Kicked off Girls On The Run during our first practice we went over what the girls should expect when they come to Girls On The Run. We all agreed to our :
EXPECTATIONS: Leave it at the door Have Fun Be Safe Try your Best In making connections we did 2 activities to see what we might have in common with our teammates. Ask your girls what some of these things might be they all seemed very excited to learn more about their teammates on a more personal level. All the girls agreed that we are a team and we will all try to be there for our team mates. The girls task after this lesson was to try to say hi to each of their teammates before the next practice. |
